Philips Aquatouch AT886 Review
I bought Philips Aquatouch AT886 shaver to replace old Philips HQ6707 Shaver. I noticed improved shaving performance and no need for expensive proprietary shaving gels like HQ170.
Philips Aquatouch AT886’s shaving performance is acceptable. If you can adapt your shaving style with AT886’s capabilities, you’ll get better shaving experience. Beard to be shaved should not be too short or should not be too long. If it is too short, you may get more irritation. If it is too long, shaver may not cut all of your beards. So you need to try and learn for your beard growth speed and your needs. But in general, usage, if you can shave once every two days, you may not have any problems.
One problem is to the drying process of AT886. There was a hanging pin at my previous shaver which is HQ6707, and I can dry it much quicker. But there is no hang pin at AT886. You need to open shaving head and put in a dry place and wait to dry the shaver. With this method, it may take up to 1 or 2 days. This means if you need to charge it, you may need to wait up to 2 days.
You can use any shaving gel or foam you like to use, unlike older shavers like HQ6707. This makes shaving gel costs keep low. But replacement heads are extremely expensive. You may need to spend half price of the shaver to replacement heads every two years.
AT886’s battery performance is impressive. It has Li-Ion battery, and it lasts about 2.5 months with my usage style. But please consider it depends on shaving frequency and form. It is essential to charge the shaver while it is dry. If you didn’t dry shaver very well, you might damage charging circuits while costing if shaver is not thoroughly dry. Because of this fact, I charge the battery after low battery warning LED blinks. I may shave several times more while low battery warning LED flashes. But I haven’t risked it because If shaver gets out of battery while cutting, I need to wait several days to dry it before charging, this means I will not complete shaving at least one shaving for each battery cycle, and I spend one day with half shaving face. This is not acceptable, so I didn’t take this risk.
- Excellent battery life
- Good shaving performance
- No irritation
- Budget price
- Hard to dry
- Expensive replacement heads
